ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the use of three Google Hangout videos—created for an open online Introduction to the Old Testament course and then posted to YouTube—in a small-group Bible study as a means of integrating neophytes into scholarly discourse concerning texts of the Bible. The author describes the transforming effect that viewing informal conversations between biblical studies professors had on the ability of her learners to integrate academic vocabulary and concepts within the confines of congregational-level Bible study discussions.
