ABSTRACT

This chapter explores youth identities in the ethicized societies of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia by analysing their connection to the existing political systems and state functionality in both post-conflict countries. The chapter relies on qualitative analysis of semi-structured in-depth interviews conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia during 2013 and 2016, as well as the ways in which various protests and social movements in these two countries are related to youth identity issues. The chapter also examines how civic activism in post-conflict societies contributes to the identity formation of young people.
