ABSTRACT

[abstract: This chapter examines the confluence among the aims of holistic, peace, and sustainability education and argues for an integrative approach to achieve a sustainable and peaceable future for the planet. Holistic education integrates the head, hand, and heart and promotes connection (Miller, 2008). Peace education aims to reduce direct and indirect forms of violence among human beings (Harris & Morrison, 2003) and the planet (Brantmeier, 2013). Sustainability education aims to promote social equity, healthy ecosystems, and viable economies for the survival of future generations (Nolet * Wheeler, 2010). Implications for teacher education and educational leadership preparation are offered.]
