ABSTRACT

The aim was to examine the use of e-tools in improving student learning in Indonesia when narrated in Bahasa. Few studies have investigated the efficacy of e-tools in non-English language teaching environments on improving student performance. An e-tool describing antidepressant medicines was created in Griffith University and narrated in Bahasa. The study comprised students from STIFAR (Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Farmasi), Indonesia enrolled in the Pharmacology—Toxicology course in 2015/2016. Sixty student were allocated into: a control (students attended the lecture with no e-tool), group A (the e-tool was given before the lecture) and group B (the e-tool was given after the lecture). Student performance was assessed using a quiz and data were analysed by ANOVA. Results showed significant difference in performance in the following comparisons: control vs group A & control vs group B. Groups A & B outperformed the control. This suggests that e-tools may improve student’s performance.
