ABSTRACT

Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a global health problem in the world. In Indonesia, cases of death due to HIV/AIDS case increases every year. The aims of this study were to determine effectiveness of ARV therapy and to identify effect of age, sex and ARV regiment towards increase of CD4 in patient with HIV/AIDS in This study was a cross-sectional analytic study with retrospective data collection in Mangusada Hospital Bali. We analyzed 52 patients with HIV/AIDS. CD4 before and after ARV treatment was significantly different (p < 0.05). Subjects with CD4 increase was 82.7%, while 17.3% subjects experienced CD4 decline. Neither age, neither gender nor type of ARV regimens didn’t significantly affected the CD4 decline (p > 0.05). It’s concluded that ARV therapy in Mangusada General Hospital Bali is effective. Age, gender and ARV regimen types didn’t significantly affected CD4 increase.
