ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness and cost treatment of trifluoperazine and haloperidol combined with trihexyphenidyl in patients with schizophrenia who were hospitalized in Madani Regional Hospital in Central Sulawesi in 2015. A descriptive method was used by collecting secondary data from 211 medical records of patients who received combinations of antipsychotic therapy. On the one hand, the effectiveness of treatment was measured by the criteria of complete remission if the length of hospitalization is ≤21 days and incomplete remission if the length of hospitalization is >21 days. On the other hand, the cost-effectiveness was measured from the CEA (cost-effectiveness analysis) based on the values of the ACER (Average Cost Effectiveness Ratio) and the ICER (Incremental Cost-Effectiveness Ratio). The effectiveness values of treatment with haloperidol-trihexyphenidyl and trifluoperazine-trihexyphenidyl was measured as clinical outcomes of 65.00% and 63.16%, respectively. The cost-effectiveness was based on the values of the ACER in haloperidol-trihexyphenidyl treatment and trifluoperazine-trihexyphenidyl treatment, Rp. 31.153 and 33.000, respectively, but the ICER value was Rp. -32.219. Trihexyphenidyl-haloperidol treatment was more effective than trifluoperazinetrihexyphenidyl treatment in terms of drug efficacy and cost of treatment.
