ABSTRACT

Conducting and communicating interfaith research begins and ends with respect. Even if the setting of research looks like our own faith and culture, we are still surprised by the ways that individual people honor traditions and seek to respond to their worlds. Publishable scholarly interfaith research reports have a clear focus, draw well on previous research, use research methods in an integrous manner, advance conversation in the field, exhibit respect for subjects, openly clarify researchers' point of view and concerns, and use the research approaches in a mutual manner – researchers learn from their subjects both in the construction of the research and in its conclusions.
