ABSTRACT

The National Socialist politician Arthur Seyss-Inquart not only played a significant role in bringing about Anschluss of Austria; he was also intimately involved in the gradual destruction of Czechoslovakia and the occupation of several countries in Eastern and Western Europe during the Second World War. Furthermore, he regularly contributed to Nazi discourse on the idea of Europe. This chapter sheds fresh light on his racist conception of “Europe” and his efforts to establish a genuinely National Socialist “New Order” on the continent.
