ABSTRACT

The work El Poder de la Libertad. Una introducción a Kierkegaard by María José Binetti aims to be an introductory handbook to Kierkegaard's living thought. This chapter presents a study of the book; an analysis of Kierkegaard's main philosophical categories related to the very essence of personal subjectivity, the individual, and inwardness, that is, to forms or ways in which the free spirit becomes self-aware and develops. The book does not oblige its reader to have previous knowledge about Kierkegaard's thinking, but indeed it is necessary to have some experience with philosophy. Between the possibility and the decision, the individual is constantly suffering from anxiety and despair. Each of the text's sixteen chapters represents a determined perspective on different aspects of Kierkegaard's life and work. From Chapters 10–12 Binetti's central theme is that the decision taken through freedom drives man to create and behold his subjective identity.
