ABSTRACT

Torsten Bohlin's Sören Kierkegaard. Mannen och verket is an updated version of his first Kierkegaard biography, Sören Kierkegaard. Drag ur hans levnad och personlighetsutveckling. Bohlin's first Kierkegaard biography took a strongly psychological approach to Kierkegaard's life and work. Bohlin's first Kierkegaard biography did not contain much by way of critical analysis of Kierkegaard's thought. Upon publication Bohlin's book was reviewed both positively and negatively. In a review by Ruben Josefsson in the national ecclesiastical press, Svensk kyrkotidning, Bohlin is commended for having shown that certain metaphysically oriented aspects of Kierkegaard's thought are incompatible with a clearly evangelical point of view and hence should be protested against. A much more negative review, by Valter Lindström, was published in Sweden's main theological journal Svensk Teologisk Kvartalskrift. In spite of the sort of criticism put forth by Lindström, Bohlin's second Kierkegaard biography was by and large well received.
