ABSTRACT

Social and economic development has become increasingly dependent on the application of information and communication technologies (ICT). ICT refers to a broad range of various technologies enabling electronic recording, processing, transmission, reproduction or displaying of information. The development of the information society in various regions depends both on structural investment and digital inclusion initiatives addressed to those citizens who still do not use the Internet. The importance of the latter seems to be underestimated, as it is not appropriately reflected in the e-development policies of the Visegrad Group countries. Modern information and communication technologies, and the Internet, in particular, have created a new kind of online community. With its rapid development and huge number of users, the Internet represents a vast market for the exchange of information, goods and services called e-commerce. The take-up of the information and communication technologies in education also leaves a lot of room for improvement.
