ABSTRACT

The Lezginka dance is regarded as an artistic activity of the various peoples of the Circumpontic (Black Sea) region. Scores of dances possess both the general and specific defined as characteristic of the Lezginka. On the basis of the music, movements and the classification of the Lezginka dance, this essay presents the characteristics of individual types of this dance. The essay will demonstrate that the musical texts of songs attached to the Lezginka dance are widespread, and are popular beyond the Circumpontic region.
