ABSTRACT

On the morning of July 29, 2016 the world seemed to be Hillary Clinton's oyster. Hillary Clinton was known to be a master at debating with a full command of virtually any issue that might come her way. The Clinton campaign had also sought to make Trump's treatment of women and ethnic minorities an issue. Just two days later the Clinton campaign experienced another setback which couldn't be helped, but nevertheless forced them to confront some new realities of the 2016 campaign. In 2012, the Romney campaign and the Republican Party had lost a close race to incumbent President Barack Obama, a race many Republicans expected to win. But Republican operatives knew the truth: they were just as smart, and had forward thinking innovation, but two factors had hindered their success. The Clinton campaign felt they had hit their target: two groups that were seen by experts as critical to winning a general election were furious with the Republican candidate.
