ABSTRACT

External Apical Root Resorption (EARR) is a common undesirable side effect of orthodontic treatment with etiology still unsolved, unpredictable and with no standardized clinical criteria. Understanding EARR imposes an objective definition and evaluation of the phenotype. Digital radiographic images are frequently used in orthodontics for clinical diagnosis and virtual planning of treatment. This paper aims to describe the use of an image processing tool to assist EARR clinical management and research.
