ABSTRACT

The important role of parents in preparing their children to succeed in national examination and enrollment exam of higher education is by involving children in after-school activities in order to support the achievement of success and access to higher education. The purpose of this study is to determine how much the role of parents helps their children to be successful in higher levels of education, and the effects of after-school activities on the preparation of students in national exams. The method used in this research is the combination method in which the data search used was the technique of quantitative data, and the elaboration of the results used the techniques of qualitative data. For the data analysis, percentage analysis was used. The technique used is purposive sampling and the samples taken are learners who follow the after-school activities, as many as 181 students, using a krejcie table with a significance level of 0.05%. The results showed that the role of parents in supporting their children in the national exam and college enrollment test is so great. It can be seen from the parents who provide supportive learning facilities and advice to the children in choosing a tutor, although the children still choose their own tutoring.
