246 247The domain of environmental engineering science is moving from one paradigmatic shift over another. Environmental regulations, environmental restrictions, and industrial wastewater treatment are changing the scientific landscape of traditional and nontraditional environmental engineering techniques. The challenge and vision of science today are enigmatic and inspiring. Drinking water treatment and water purification are the areas of immense scientific endeavor which need to be reenvisioned and reenshrined with the passage of scientific history and time. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are the nontraditional avenues of scientific endeavor. Ozone oxidation is also one visionary avenue of AOPs. The author pointedly focuses on the immense scientific potential and the wide success of AOPs particularly ozone oxidation. This treatise also stresses on the immense scientific vision of integrated advanced oxidation techniques. The world of scientific research pursuit in environmental engineering is moving toward zero-discharge norms. Technological vision and scientific objectives are the torchbearers toward a greater emancipation of AOPs today.
