ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter raises deep concern over the destructive path of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and issues a personal plea for its transformation. It describes my relationship to the two peoples and my decades of work toward the resolution of the conflict. In the spirit of “strategic optimism,” it elaborates on the one-country/two-state solution, which frames the two-state solution in terms of a vision of a united country that belongs to both peoples. Such a framework calls for the development of a transcendent narrative of reconciliation, without abandoning the core of the two peoples’ national narratives.
