ABSTRACT

According to the Yogic world view, the five elements – space, air, fire, water and earth – are the building blocks of the world of matter, but also exist at the level of the mind in their subtle forms. This means that they can form a framework for people to explore the relationship between their inner world and the outer world. The proportions of the five elements in people's inner world determine how open and flowing they can be in relation to the outer world. The conceptualisation of the five elements in the mind can help people to understand the meditation and in particular the Mindfulness from a different perspective. The work with the Chakras helps people to balance body and mind through linking the physical body with the subtle body of thoughts and emotions by using the breath and the flow of the Prana.
