ABSTRACT

The overall purpose of this case study is to achieve an informed management decision regarding team selection. In Ireland, participation within third-level ‘Camogie’ is a preferred team sport for female students. In this case study, the mentor and mentee discuss considerations regarding the team selection of two athletes, both of whom are in contention for a starting position within the national collegiate final. As a result of Paul’s limited coaching experience, he appears disconnected on occasions in the decision-making process. Niall has considerable coaching experience, and his role is critical in guiding this conversation towards a solution.
