ABSTRACT

There is a strong argument for not aligning the two topics contained in the title of this chapter. Music is one thing and capitalism is another. Except, of course, they intercept. A discussion about capitalism is inevitably political. It is a critique of how human society works. All of us, in some way, are involved with the cash nexus. Free improvisation in music is also a site for human activity in which there is also the potential for exchange.
