Look at this list of feelings. These are painful feelings many children and teenagers who have experienced parental separation and divorce have said they feel. The statements in italics under the feelings are what children and teenagers have said. Have you ever felt any of these feelings too? (It doesn’t matter if you have experienced these feelings but in a different way to the statements.) Tick the feelings you have had about your parents separating or divorcing. Then grade them from 1 to 10, with 1 a manageable feeling and 10 a very painful one. Now look back at the feelings you ticked. Which of them stand out for you? What do you think you need to make this feeling hurt less?
