ABSTRACT

In the final chapter, recommendations for how the self-as-doer might operate in new populations such as for those with obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic illnesses, as well as for non-clinical populations who are seeking to make health behavior changes are made. We also offer concrete examples of how the self-as-doer can be used as an assessment tool, an educational tool, and as a stand-alone or add-on intervention. Limitations and suggestions for future work are provided. The chapter ends with a discussion of how the self-as-doer can be used over time to improve the maintenance of heath behavior changes. The purpose of this chapter is to provide those interested in using the self-as-doer in either research or clinical settings with specific ways to do so.
