ABSTRACT

This chapter offers a critical review of graphene based porous materials for energy applications. Three main recent progresses are discussed on materials synthesis, including (1) potassium hydroxide activated graphenes, (2) graphene hydrogels from hydrothermal treatment, and (3) foams of graphene and its composites from different deposition processes on a porous metal template that is removed later. For properties and applications, the focus is on electrochemical energy storage, correlating with structures and compositions of graphene based porous materials. More detailed description and comparison are provided on these novel porous materials.
