ABSTRACT

Only major reforms will help the Tunisian economy to live up to people’s expectations following the revolution. Apart from political will, funds are needed to implement such reforms and many bi- and multilateral donor organisations committed to support Tunisia in its transition phase. Given their previous engagement and collaboration with Ben Ali, how did the three largest multilateral lenders respond to the political change? This chapter analyses the African Development Bank, the European Investment Bank and the World Bank with regard to their various immediate reactions as well as changes in their operations during 2011–2014 as compared to 2007–2010.
