ABSTRACT

Marine brushless A.C. generators have been designed so as to fulfil various laws and regulations. They cause the output current of a rotary armature type A.C. exciter, mounted on the shaft of the main generator, to excite the field system of the main generator through a rotary rectifier, thus generating A.C. power. Housing configuration and protecting system of the generators are as follows: drip-proof, protected, with sleeve bearings in end brackets, forced lubrication, with a builtin exciter (Zhang 2013). The static exciting systems are composed of a current transformer, a rectifier, a surge protector, a power transformer, etc. Normally, their main components are mounted as a unit on top of the generators. TAIYO model’s FEK generator is showed in Figure 1.
