ABSTRACT

In the following, data on the victim, the perpetrator, and the family, as well as on the nature of the sexual abuse, are presented. The data on the two samples from England and Canada are presented separately. To better appreciate the findings, comparisons are made with findings from other studies. While such comparisons were relatively easy for some of the material (for example, age of the victim at referral, size of family, family problems), there was a striking scarcity of data in the literature in other areas. For example, information on the nature of the abuse, age of onset (of victim and perpetrator) and frequency was often lacking.
