ABSTRACT

Fresh water is an essential resource for all human beings and is an important part of our ecological system. China has the fifth largest water resources in the world, after Brazil, Canada, United States, and Indonesia. The water runoff quantity in China is estimated to be 2,711.5 cubic kilometers annually. Despite its population of more than 1.2 billion, the per capita water availability in China is still relatively higher than that of many other Asian countries.
