ABSTRACT

This is a brief history of the municipalities of Lom and Skják over 100 to 125 years.1 I will ask the following question: In the contemporary economic and social life of these rural communities, what has historical roots and what is fundamentally new? I will also raise the further question: Will a completely new rural economy take shape in the coming 10 to 15 years? It is a truism to state that the recording or documenting of all history is merely the interpretation of history. This means that it is possible to tell completely different stories about historical development same rural economy. In brief: Our heavenly Father can perhaps change the present and the future, but only the historiem can change the past!
