ABSTRACT

This chapter attempts the creating broad processes of change in Norwegian work life through one program composed of a multiplicity of means. Regional and national experiences from the research and development program Enterprise Development 2000 (ED2000) indicate that 'there may be several ways to Rome', which in this case means a sustainable and competitive industry, offering attractive work places and good working conditions. The main research questions of ED2000 concern how to transform the diversity of research activities and experience into production of knowledge to the benefit of individual actors and enterprises, as well as the teaching and research communities. The Trondheim research group of ED2000 began its operations in 1995. The research of the Trondheim group is located on the premises of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. The heads of the ED2000 troll are the different research groups, characterised by their diversity and pluralism.
