ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses directly on the implications of the legal provisions on the youth policy of Swaziland with a view to identifying the shortcomings within the legislations and making some recommendations on them. It discusses the issues such as the scope of the term 'youth', the problem of the youth within the context of national development, social expectations: international and national perspectives, policy implications and the legal framework in Swaziland and new challenges with some suggestions. The chapter addresses the expectations of the global society on matters of the youth, citing international instruments, which set the required standards to be taken into account when solving youth problems. Legal capacity generally is one aspect of law, which is shrouded with all types of jurisprudential debate. The economic evils of modernization have produced extremely poor members of the society; and the consequences of this are disastrous to the youth.
