ABSTRACT

An article in Journal of Educational Change reported many women were given lesser positions than men with similar backgrounds and experience and were afraid to speak out for fear of retaliation. It had been over a year since the 'anticipated yet nonetheless startling' results of the Berkeley campus study on women appeared in the Policy CSAW report. On March 31, Judge Renfrew ordered a delay of ruling on the class action lawsuit. The suit would now be heard at the end of July. The Senate CSAW understood its responsibility to be that of 'reporter and policy advisor' to the academic senate on the status of academic women. A member of the Senate CSAW provided an evaluation of progress on the Policy CSAW recommendations, based on the 1970-71 budget committee report and what she knew of discussions within the Senate CSAW. On March 27, Betty gave an affidavit before a notary public in relationship to the HEW investigation.
