ABSTRACT
As it relates to the various contributions in the book, there are two broad remarks to be made particularly as it relates to certain thematic areas. The first is methodological. The approaches or perspectives to the study have varied. There are various perspectives that have been employed from the structural to the institutional to the political economy and class analytical approach. The issues identified range from social to political and economic. The role o f the military, religion, ethnicity, language and uneven development in various ways and how they have been factored into the understanding of the national question in Nigeria. The weight of any of these variables is a function of the circumstances and agencies in the fore of pushing them.
