ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the Swedish music industry which in recent decades has put out a remarkable number of successful music products on the world market, including Abba, Roxette, Ace of Base, The Cardigans, Europe, Meja, Dr Alban, Pandora, Jenifier Brown, Robyn, and Dj Mendez to mention but a few. The recent international success of these and other ‘acts’ has made Sweden one of the largest net exporters of popular music in the world after the US and UK (Burnett, 1997; Forss, 1999).
