ABSTRACT

The key to helping readers and writers learn content material is to believe in their ability to learn and then act on that belief. In the past challenging content was reserved for the highest achieving students. Struggling learners were excluded from chemistry, physics, and advanced history classes and were shuffled into general science classes or classes on practical economics. Deprived of the opportunity to delve into complex ideas, these students failed to develop the higher-level thinking skills that were fostered in the challenging classes. Unfortunately, there was a widespread belief that not all students could learn complex information. However, research asserts that virtually all students are capable of learning challenging content.
