ABSTRACT

Organizational practices designed to create a positive work environment are plentiful. Such practices attempt to advance worker safety, manage disease and illness, and promote a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of this chapter was to examine current organizational factors influencing worker health and safety, and to review various practices aimed at effecting change in contemporary workplaces. In this chapter it was intentional to look at broad issues applicable to diverse organizations that would be relevant across many (industrialized) countries.
