ABSTRACT

This chapter determines who the stakeholders are, according to management within Lithuanian companies, and how the latter perceive the relationship with different stakeholder groups. It investigates what management does and how they interact with various stakeholder groups. The chapter finds out to what extent the factors influenced the work of management and its relationship towards different stakeholder groups. It considers theoretical material discussing the concept of stakeholders as well as various stakeholder groups. The chapter describes methods and materials used. It attempts to relate the effects of the introduced market economy on stakeholder relationship building within Lithuanian companies. The chapter also investigates the influence of quite recent changes in the Lithuanian economic system, namely, the market economy and private ownership on the development of stakeholder relationships within the firms. Generally, all managers named shareholders, employees, customers, suppliers, community, governmental institutions and the media as stakeholders of the companies.
