ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book analyzes the issue of globalization and the role policies of economic and local development can play in this process in Argentina. It examines globalization trends from ‘macro’ policy point of view. The issue is both global and regional, how to tackle integration and avoid marginalization of areas within the region, Europe. The book addresses the issues of Policies and Politics of Change. In these chapters policies refer to the actions or the development paths governments have chosen to pursue to confront global economic or deregulation needs. The book also analyses the issue of policies at local micro-regional level. The region analyzed is Algarve with divided regional structure. The book discusses issues of globalization and marginalization at local mill town level.
