ABSTRACT
The twenty-first century will witness an expanding European Union with the CEEC countries and the Baltic States as new members. Transport emerges to be one of the key areas for integrating the accession countries. The transport networks will have strong influences on trade development, social and cultural integration, and regional development. Currently with several gaps in the transport system of the Central and Eastern Countries, it is still unclear how the European transport network landscape will develop.
