ABSTRACT

In the outskirts of Freiburg, in southern Germany, a new experimental neighbourhood was developed as a sustainable model district. In a time of rethinking a better management of natural resources, Vauban is a sustainable community, a good example of what the future holds for us. What is preached by many, only in theory, has become a real model to be followed. In this work, it will be established a relationship between the theoretical principles of sustainability and its successful application in Vauban.
