ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book explores the comprehensive concerns and dilemmas occurring from, and in, mental health-substance use practice, management, service development and professionally. It examines the ethical issues, from an international perspective, facing the professional on a daily basis, and the development of ethical care and practice. The book reviews practical ethical frameworks that can be used to guide practice and ensure that the best interests of the individual are always the focus of care. It presents an overview of ethical practice, from an individual professional perspective, and how these concerns and dilemmas may be encountered, what considerations need to be given to that ethical practice and overcome our anxieties of what ethics means to us on a daily basis.
