ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with future sustainable mobilities using the first Cycle Super Highway in the Greater Copenhagen area as the case of study. The chapter is based on qualitative interviews with local planners. It discusses how visions are transformed into infrastructure, finding that the visions behind a project are often dealt with through pragmatic planning practice. The chapter concludes that a holistic approach to planning can help emphasize the visions behind sustainable mobilities initiatives and make planning for future sustainable mobilities not only a matter of changing the physical infrastructures, but also a cultural change in planning practices.
