ABSTRACT

Many citizens have an opinion about buses and bus transport in everyday life. For many people, buses are uncomfortable, slow, and force you to sit far too close to other passengers than is often comfortable. But stories from both passengers and drivers also show that the bus works as a moving community, connecting the multiple dots that everyday life consists of. Identifying the bus as a moving anchor in a lot of people’s everyday life, the chapter discusses networks, rhythms, and variations in urban life. Understanding these elements of networked urban mobilities generates not only new developments but also ambitious future mobile urban planning.
