ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book emphasises the importance of collaboration between educational leaders, teachers and families in improving the quality, cultural responsiveness and, thus, the overall relevance of schooling. Kahangwa takes the idea of culturally responsive education to argue that the consideration of the cultural environment/context that surrounds higher education in a certain country well suits its efforts to develop a knowledge-based economy (KBE). The book addresses issues related to research methodology. It inspires the pedagogical thinking of researchers, lecturers and teachers and lead to educational innovations, which, in turn, will equip future schools to respond to the challenges of a changing society and culture. Alsudis and Pillay reach personal levels of narration in their chapter exploring how culturally situated narrative writing serves as a methodological tool for meaning making across cultures.
