ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates, how leadership learning and action process (LEADLAP) was used within health care education, to facilitate a collaborative understanding of the National Health Service (NHS) cultural web, and how this awareness and action enhanced strategic change implementation. It presents a view of how strategic workplace learning could be positioned to promote and encourage self- and peer determination of professional and personal development, within health and social care organisations, within clinical teams and amongst individuals in the care and clinical environment. LEADLAP is to be used in conditions of complexity, uncertainty, instability, and an environment where value-conflicts abound. LEADLAP's relationship to the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) excellence model is that through true, tried, and tested strategic management and leadership concepts, it could be used to implement the EFQM model.
