ABSTRACT

Women’s basketball has seen a reasonable level of coverage and publicity especially at the top end of the spectrum (professional level in particular). The standards and demands of women game have been well researched in previous years. On this vein, the “Women in basketball” chapter explores training aspects specific to women game with a focus on topics such as physical characteristics of female players, training load and game frequency, injuries, menstrual cycle and so on, and it also brings into discussion the position of women as coaches (assistant and head coach) in both the women’s and men’s game.
