ABSTRACT

The continually increasing intensity of the invisible electromagnetic radiation due to cell phones affects human life in many ways. Base transmission towers erected for the better coverage of signals emit radiation frequently, which has unfavorable outcomes. The conversion of solar energy to food by photosynthesis in plants—the basic step in the food chain—depends on electromagnetic radiation. The light in form of radiation is absorbed by the chlorophyll pigment in the leaves and produces foodstuff necessary for the growth of a plant. Electromagnetic radiations can be classified into ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation has the capability to ionize and break the covalent bonds in atoms. Electromagnetic radiation has sufficient energy to remove the electrons in the outermost orbit of an atom, thereby creating charged particles or ions. The continuous conversation on the cell phone might change the rate of breathing. The importance of health hazards due to cell phone and cell phone towers has not been understood by a layperson.
