ABSTRACT

Chapter 14 stresses the increasing importance of regional international organizations (RIOs) as collective security providers and discusses the ways in which “regional concerts” could interact without merging. The authors devote special attention to the compatibility of NATO and the CSTO. In sum, they argue, the (in)ability of regional concerts to interact, rehearse and exist in relative harmony will be decisive for the prospect of arranging a so-called Concert of Concerts, which has to be based on joint rehearsals and performance and will have to include both great powers and great organizations.
