ABSTRACT

A computer-aided design (CAD) is considered the use of computer systems for the creation, modification, analysis, and optimization of a design. The various CAD/computer-aided engineering (CAE)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) tools are the core constituents of the digital product development activity, and their integration with the necessary information technology infrastructure leads to the development of the Product Lifecycle Management–systems. Through the parametric solid modeling systems, model creation is based on the design intent of the part/product, and its subsequent use in downstream applications is taken into account when the three-dimensional (3D) model is created. The use of CAD systems does not change the nature and the stages of the design process, but as the name states, it aids the product designer in every step. The generated shapes are created more quickly, as it is required by a conceptual design system. Different design applications are related, and changes made to an object in any application are automatically reflected in any other related application.
