The Industrial Districts Approach There has been renewed interest in the ‘industrial district’ approach to analysing economic development in the last decades, prompted by the Italian experience. The Italian industrial districts (IDs) are now considered in the national and international literature as one of the main factors in the successful and rapid industrial development of Italy after the Second World War.
