ABSTRACT

The manager is the critical link between creating an organisation of savers and investors. Much of the strategy discussed in Part I of this book was about creating understanding and emotional commitment at an organisational level, looking at ways to achieve higher levels of engagement using attachment and significance. This work has a great influence on levels of engagement, but human resources and communication professionals alone – the groups that most often take the lead on organisational engagement – cannot create investors. In most cases, higher employee engagement and performance demands that leaders and managers do more than organisation-wide initiatives can achieve alone.
